Old-Fashioned Pot Roast

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 lbs. boneless pot roast , rump, chuck or round
  • 1 envelope Lipton® Recipe Secrets® Onion Soup Mix
  • 2 1/4 cups water

Directions

  1. Brown roast in Dutch oven, over medium-high heat. Add Lipton® Recipe Secrets® Onion Soup Mix blended with water. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer covered, turning occasionally, 2-1/2 hours or until tender and thoroughly cooked. Thicken gravy, if desired.

Also terrific with Lipton® Recipe Secrets® Beefy Onion Soup Mix or Lipton® Recipe Secrets® Onion Mushroom Soup Mix.

FOOD NOTE: For ONION GRAVY, bring 1 envelope Lipton® Recipe Secrets® Onion Soup Mix blended with 1-1/2 cups water to a boil. Simmer covered, stirring occasionally, 8 minutes. Stir in 2 tablespoons flour blended with 1/2 cup water. Bring to a boil. Simmer, stirring constantly, 2 minutes or until thickened.
